Northwest Nazarene University's professional studies programs are online and accelerated. The university expects students to complete all course requirements and achieve course-related student learning outcomes, including class participation and engagement. Weekly participation and engagement in courses are important prerequisites for student success. Online, participation means logging into Canvas a few times a week to view course materials, check for announcements, view grading feedback, and complete assignments. Throughout the course, the university will check in on your participation, and someone will reach out if there are any concerns.
While weekly class attendance is not required, each student must start the course and participate in an academically related activity by Sunday of Week 1.
Participation is demonstrated by any of the following methods:
• attending a synchronous virtual session related to a course,
• submitting an academic assignment,
• taking a quiz or exam,
• participating in an online discussion assigned in a course,
• or initiating a discussion with a professor or university personnel about academic or enrollment matters
Students who do not participate in a course in one or more of these methods within the first seven days of a course will be administratively withdrawn from the course.
